Boehringer Ingelheim Symposium at IPVS & ESPHM 2024

Within the scope of ESPHM & IPVS 2024 held in Leipzig, Boehringer Ingelheim organized a successful satellite symposium under the title“The global pig industry: A volatile market full of opportunities to succeed” 

With the participation of internationally renowned speakers such asDr. Martin Pfützner, Dr. Joel Nerem, DV, Prof. Daniel C. L. Linhares, DVM, The numerous attendees were able to enjoy excellent presentations. Additionally, the veterinarians who accompanied us at this event received the "Guilty Gilt"  book by Prof. Linhares and Dr. Marius Kunze written with the objective of maximizing the whole-herd performance by helping gilts to reach their full reproductive potential and produce healthy pigs.

During the event we were also able to honour the winners of the 2023 European PRRS research awards.the three winning proposals were:

• Marti Cortey Marques for her project Developing a point-of-care diagnostic procedure for PRRS virus infection based on LAMP and real-time whole genome sequencing. (POC-PRRS).
• Albert Finestra Uriol: Assessing the risk of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus introduction in finishing herds
• Marylène Tignon: Air sampling method as tool for detection and surveillance of respiratory pathogens in pig herds
